So these bath bombs are super fun & easy to make. I even had my son help me make them so it’s definitely a kid-friendly DIY. The yummy smell of chocolate in the tub is crazy relaxing and I love the way that the coconut oil makes your skin feel. I can tell this is one I am going to be making at least a few more times.
Here’s what you will need to make these:
1/2 cup baking soda
1/4 cup corn starch
1/4 cup citric acid
1/4 cup Epsom salt
1/4 cup freeze dried strawberries (ground into mostly powder)
1 tablespoon coconut oil
2 teaspoons water
1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
1/4 cup coconut oil
1 tablespoon raw cocoa powder
First, get a large bowl and mix together all of the dry ingredients. In a smaller bowl, melt coconut oil, then mix in the other wet ingredients.
Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry. I cannot stress how much I mean SLOWLY! I have learned the hard way with bath bombs that if you mix them too fast it will cause the citric acid to react and completely ruin your bath bombs. They end up a goopy blob in the tub with hardly any fizz unless you break it up yourself. Not cool!
Once it’s mixed together you can place in a mold, if you have one. To get the strawberry shape I used the cap to a baby bottle and just shaped them from there. Get creative and use whatever you want or you can just roll them up in a ball. I am a huge believer in doing whatever works better for you!
Lay them out somewhere safe and out of the way and let them dry. It’s best to let dry for 24 hours but at least overnight. Make sure they aren’t touching or they will end up stuck together.
When it’s dry, mix together coconut oil and cocoa powder for dip. Depending on the kind of oil you use and how warm you keep your house, you may have to heat up the coconut oil to get that chocolate sauce kind of consistency. Again, VERY SLOWLY & CAREFULLY, dip the end of the bath bomb into the chocolate and let dry.
