So these bath bombs are super fun & easy to make. I even had my son help me make them so it’s definitely a kid-friendly DIY. The yummy smell of chocolate in the tub is crazy relaxing and I love the way that the coconut oil makes your skin feel. I can tell this is one I am going to be making at least a few more times.

Here’s what you will need to make these:

1/2 cup baking soda

1/4 cup corn starch

1/4 cup citric acid

1/4 cup Epsom salt

1/4 cup freeze dried strawberries (ground into mostly powder)

1 tablespoon coconut oil

2 teaspoons water

1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E oil

For dip:

1/4 cup coconut oil

1 tablespoon raw cocoa powder

First, get a large bowl and mix together all of the dry ingredients. In a smaller bowl, melt coconut oil, then mix in the other wet ingredients.

Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry. I cannot stress how much I mean SLOWLY! I have learned the hard way with bath bombs that if you mix them too fast it will cause the citric acid to react and completely ruin your bath bombs. They end up a goopy blob in the tub with hardly any fizz unless you break it up yourself. Not cool!

Once it’s mixed together you can place in a mold, if you have one. To get the strawberry shape I used the cap to a baby bottle and just shaped them from there. Get creative and use whatever you want or you can just roll them up in a ball. I am a huge believer in doing whatever works better for you!

Lay them out somewhere safe and out of the way and let them dry. It’s best to let dry for 24 hours but at least overnight. Make sure they aren’t touching or they will end up stuck together.

When it’s dry, mix together coconut oil and cocoa powder for dip. Depending on the kind of oil you use and how warm you keep your house, you may have to heat up the coconut oil to get that chocolate sauce kind of consistency. Again, VERY SLOWLY & CAREFULLY, dip the end of the bath bomb into the chocolate and let dry.

Voila! You have beautiful, delicious looking chocolate covered strawberry bath bombs! Enjoy!

15 Things To Do With The Kids This Christmas…

This holiday season is destined to be a tight one for our little family. On top of the financial aspect, my oldest son (who is 5) has been progressively getting greedier and greedier each Christmas. It has been more about the next present and less about the joy and happiness that the holidays bring.

That being said, I am bound and determined to make this year a memorable one! Instead of it being about what they get, I want the kids to remember this Christmas (and every one after for that matter!) for the things that we did together and the memories that were made. Lets face it, next Christmas they won’t even remember what Santa brought them this year anyways. I don’t even remember most of the things that I got for Christmas as an adult, let alone when I was a child!

Sore muscles? I’ve got the remedy!

For as long as I can remember, I have had issues with sore muscles and achy joints. From growing pains, to soreness from exercise, and even arthritis (yes, I am 26 with arthritis…). I’ve tried all kinds of things (pain killers, muscle relaxers, muscle rubs, etc.) and each works for its own purpose, but nothing you take really manages every kind of pain and soreness you experience. Recently, however, I have come across something that can almost do just that. Of course, it too does not get rid of EVERY pain you have, but it comes pretty darn close.

Oregon Friends with Fur Babies! Spay & Neuter Savings!

Anyone who knows me knows that I worked for a veterinary clinic for a while. They participate in a Low Cost Spay & Neuter Program. I wanted to take a minute here to let everyone know about the program. I think it is just too good to pass up With the amount of people I know with unaltered pets and the amount of pets in shelters, I think it would be irresponsible not to let everyone know about the benefits of the procedure and the amazing Oregon Spay & Neuter Fund.
